Open Day 2024
Our 2024 Open Day took place on Saturday 2nd November.
This year's show moved to a new venue - Dunchurch Village Hall.
Apologies to anyone who arrived early and struggled to park - when we booked the hall we were told we could park on the grass - but the trustees declared it too wet. This was compounded by a football match which used up several parking spaces.
We did what we could to ease things by moving our cars and guiding those we saw to double park against exhibitor's vehicles.
By midday the car park was free - but we appreciate some had given up. We'll do better next time!!
The show itself went well - with 16 layouts from club members and guests - in a range of scales and gauges.
The layouts were supported by trade stands and a 3D printing demo.
To top if off was homemade cake!
Open Day 2023
Our Open Day at the Scout Hut saw a steady flow of visitors who were able to see a range of layouts from group members and guests.
The refreshment area was busy with bacon sandwiches and homemade cakes.
Graeme's sales stall also saw a lot of interest from visitors.
0-16.5 Modular Layout
The Open Day saw a first display for the club's 0-16.5 modules.
These were joined up with John's Severn Mill and Andi's Quarry to make a layout of over 20 ft.
Steve's 009
A work in progress 009 layout.
The group has witnessed the growth from a bare board to its current stage with hills built and buildings started.
Morton Yard
Another first public appearance - this time for Pete's small SM32 layout (just 4ft x 3ft).
The layout uses Hornby tinplate track and features a wagon turntable made from a right angled crossing.
Large Scale Test Track
Our larger SM32 track allows for running of items which can't negotiate the tight curves and limited clearances of Morton Yard.
It also allows some of our younger visitors to have a go themselves with a radio control loco.
Blackmoor Gate
Garry was another to make a debut for his L&B layout based on Blackmoor Gate station and surroundings.
Regular trains ran throughout the day - including some guest items brought by other members and visitors.
Refreshments
Its not a proper Open Day without homemade cake - and Chris and Julie did us proud.
Ashe Rock
Bob's dockside 0-16.5 micro layout has developed over the last couple of meetings.
Plenty of atmosphere from the dockside "clutter".
SM32 Stock
Dave and Pete had a number of SM32 items on display - including Dave's WW1 rolling stock and armoured Simplex
Rokeby Wharf
A rare appearance for Rokeby Wharf which was first exhibited back in 2011.
Limited running as Pete was concentrating on Morton Yard, but several of Chris's items took on the hill including a sound fitted Bachmann Linda.
Del Boy
The Americans have Big Boy - we have Del Boy.
Dave's Reliant Robin runs on SM32 track and entertained young and old on our test track.
Hilten Junction
Pete and Martin brought their Hilten Junction layout.
An end to end layout with both 00 and 009 tracks.
3D Printing Demo
Gary brought along his 3D printer which created much interest from both visitors and members.
Prints during the day included SM32 lamps and oil cans.
His ducks also appeared on several layouts.
Severn Mill
Plenty of industrial character on John's Severn Mill 0-16.5 layout.
This formed one end of the modular layout.
Cake Box
Pete brought his 009 entry to the BRM Cakebox challenge of a few years ago.
This genuine micro layout was inspired by the Leighton Buzzard railway.

Sales Stall
Graeme brought along his sales stall and also manned the club sales stand.
